Suspected Animal Abuser Arrested, Puppy Needs Facial Surgery

DUBLIN – Alameda County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man on September 11 on suspicion of abusing a puppy so badly that it required emergency veterinary treatment, and follow-up reconstructive facial surgery.

County sheriff’s deputies received a report of animal cruelty and were dispatched on Monday to investigate at the East County Animal Shelter, located at 4595 Gleason Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim — Allie, a 9-month old Pit Bull — recently received emergency treatment at nearby veterinary hospital, before she was transported to the shelter by animal services technicians.

The puppy suffered from repeated beatings causing blunt force injuries. She was abandoned outside in serious condition, with a broken jaw bone, dislocation of the joint that connects the jaw to the skull, severe bruises on her back and hips, and a missing tooth.

Allie was found by concerned citizens who brought her to an emergency veterinary hospital.

Investigating sheriff’s deputies identified and located her suspected abuser, 23-year-old Joshua J. Tadduc, and arrested him at 5:10 p.m. on September 11.

Tadduc is charged with cruelty to animals, and failure to care for an animal. He’s in custody at Santa Rita Jail, where he’s being held in lieu of $15,000 bond.

Allie is presently being cared for by Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services. She was scheduled to receive follow-up reconstructive facial surgery on Wednesday, and is expected to fully recover.

Volunteers from Tri-Valley Animal Rescue assisted the county animal services department. Donations to help with Allie’s treatment and recovery can be made to TVAR.org, by putting “Allie” in the notes section of donations.
