PENN VALLEY — On July 18th just before 8:30 AM, Nevada County Sheriff Regional Dispatch received a call from Cal-Fire regarding a possible shooting on the 1100 block of Sierra Circle.
On-duty deputies and Narcotics Task Force detectives responded to the residence.
When nobody answered the door, authorities made entry to conduct a welfare check.
Inside the home, 67-year-old Sandra Sue Lebarron was found dead. A man identified as 82-year-old Robert Lloyd Steuber was also at the home.
Suspicious circumstances led to the scene being secured and Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Unit personnel, as well as investigators from the D.A.’s Office, were called in.
A search warrant was secured and the scene was processed.
Evidence collected at the scene and statements given by Steuber provided enough cause to arrest him on suspicion of murder.
