EL DORADO COUNTY — The Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for 25-year-old convicted sex offender Alexander Paul Childs, who reportedly cut off the monitoring device he is required to wear on his ankle.

Deputies searched Childs’ known whereabouts but were unsuccessful. They’ve also notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.

An anonymous caller, who’d also been the one to report that Childs had removed his monitor, said Childs had been without it for a month and wanted to leave Meyers and go to Sacramento.

Childs was convicted in 2012 for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age and released later that year.

Since then, however, his parole has been suspended and a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 19 of this year. SouthTahoeNOW.com reports that his last known address was in Sacramento County.

He is described as having brown hair and hazel eyes, weighing around 140 pounds, and standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall.
