FRESNO — 21-year-old Jeremy Cobain Vaughan of Sanger was shot by a Fresno Sheriff on the morning of May 4th.  His condition was listed as critical.

It all began when a state parole agent went to Riverbend Mobile Home Park on the 17000 block of E. Kings Canyon Road. He was there looking for Vaughan, a wanted parolee.

Vaughan ran away from the agent.  Other deputies joined in the search.  The suspect was believed to be carrying a gun.

Vaughan ran along Highway 180, and finally about 15 minutes later a deputy faced him at 180 at Lone Oak.  It was at this time that the suspect, refusing to surrender, was shot by the deputy.

The FSD notes that “it’s unknown what exactly occurred during the confrontation to cause the deputy to shoot,” and they added, “The deputy who fired his gun has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol. Anyone who has additional information on this case is asked to contact Detective Jose Mora at (559) 600-8205. You may also call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.”
