MERCED — On March 19th just after 12 AM, a Merced PD officer conducted a routine traffic stop on the 200 block of W. 11th Street.
The driver, a known gang member by the name of Nicholas Martinez (24), was found to be on parole and a search of the vehicle began. The officer found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, as well as heroin and methamphetamine.
Martinez was promptly arrested “for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, gang enhancement, and drug-related charges.”
He is housed at the local jail on said charges.
