Two Arrested after Warrant Search in Rio Dell

RIO DELL — On March 9th just after 11 AM, Humboldt County Drug Task Force agents, along with Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies, served a search warrant on a residence on the 100 block of First Street.

54-year-old Jeffrey Edward Newell and 25-year-old Samantha Jacobsen were in the home, along with around 12 grams of meth, 1 gram of heroin, 5 digital scales, packaging material, a loaded 30-30 rifle, 12-gauge shotgun, and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Newell was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a residence for the purposes of distributing a controlled substance, armed while possessing a controlled substance, and a possession of high-capacity magazine. Jacobsen was booked for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of heroin.

The investigation remains ongoing.
