Caught Red-Handed, Three Arrested for Walmart Burglary

ANDERSON — On March 1st just before 2 AM, an Anderson Police Officer on patrol near Walmart noticed a white Chevy Camaro in the Garden Center portion parking lot, which stood out due to it being the only non-commercial vehicle.

Due to recent burglaries which followed a similar initial MO, the officer kept an eye on it. It left shortly thereafter.

Just before 3 AM, the officer noticed what appeared to be the same vehicle return, drop several individuals off at the front door, and leave. Not 15 minutes later, the same vehicle was backed up to the Garden Center — this time with the trunk open and someone standing behind it.

Two individuals were then seen running from an open emergency exit with a cart of merchandise. The officer headed them off and ordered them to stay put.

The suspects, three in total — John Stein (26), Theresa Stein (29), and Matthew Edwards (31), all of Anderson — were arrested for shoplifting, conspiracy, and sending a false fire alarm. They are housed at the Shasta County Jail with their vehicle impounded, pending additional charges from the Shasta County DA’s Office.
