Body Found in Klamath River Ruled a Homicide

SISKIYOU COUNTY — On Monday, February 20th, the body of 62-year-old Jesse Francis Ward of Happy Camp was found partially submerged in the Klamath River near a home on SR 96.

On February 23rd, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office announced the death has officially been ruled a homicide.

The body was found about 8 miles north of Yreka city limits in an unincorporated area of Siskiyou County by an SCSO deputy. The specific cause of death is being withheld so as not to compromise the investigation.

Said Sheriff Jon Lopey in a press release, “The death of Mr. Ward has been investigated as a homicide from the time his body was recovered, which has led to the development of some promising investigative leads.”
