Man Arrested for Molesting Child in Woodland

SACRAMENTO — A Sacramento man was taken into custody on Thursday, February 16, 2017 on suspicion of molesting a child in Woodland.

Police received a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 from a woman who said that Miguel Angel Perez had molested her young daughter.

Perez, 46, who said he was an installation subcontractor for several satellite television companies, entered the woman’s apartment in the 600 block of Cottonwood Street in Woodland. The woman said Perez persuaded her to enter her apartment so he could check her satellite equipment for problems. Once inside, he snuck into the woman’s daughter’s bedroom and molested the child. When the woman found him, Perez asked her to not call police.

Perez was arrested at approximately 8:30 a.m. on February 16 near his home on the 4400 Block of 6th Street in Sacramento. He was booked into Yolo County Jail on suspicion of entering an inhabited dwelling and assaulting another with the intent to commit a lewd act on a child, and is being held in lieu of $1 million.

Prior to arresting Perez, Woodland detectives contacted several large satellite service companies in an effort to identify Perez, since the victim’s mother did not know his identity. None of the companies had information on Perez or the address of the woman whose apartment he entered. Upon further investigation, detectives were able to identify Perez as the suspect.
