RIVERSIDE – Early on Wednesday morning, police officers contacted a group of people in the parking lot of a local motel.
Further interaction with the group revealed that one of them had a felony warrant and another was on probation.
A subsequent search of their vehicle yielded items linked to identity theft. The duo — 28-year-old Shina Sweet and 40-year-old Edwardo Vasquez — were arrested and booked (Sweet for possession of a controlled substance and Vasquez for possession of a controlled substance and identity theft).
Not long after this incident, a police officer conducted a traffic stop at Van Buren Boulevard and Coyote Bush Road. The passenger in the vehicle had a felony warrant. In addition, he also had items on his person related to identity theft.
32-year-old Melvin Toledo was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance and identity theft.
