Traffic Stop Becomes Drug Arrest

Drugs, gun, and cash confiscated by police

BAKERSFIELD — 42-year-old Monica Sanchez and 38-year-old Narciso Avalos were recently pulled over at Flower Street and Palm Drive, and the traffic stop soon became an arrest.

The car contained two pounds of processed marijuana, and from there officers executed a search warrant at the couple’s home in the 1900 block of Oregon Street.

At the house, police discovered a loaded .38 special handgun. meth, heroin, and other paraphernalia.  22-year-old Isaac Ortiz was at the house during the search, and was arrested  for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale.

Sanchez and Avalos were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, and maintaining a house for the purpose of selling controlled substances.
