Drub Rehab Owner Arrested for Sexual Assault, Fraud

LOS ANGELES – Police are seeking to identify additional victims of sexual assault possibly perpetrated by 55-year-old Christopher Bathum.

Bathum owned and operated several rehabilitation facilities in Los Angeles and Orange County, as well as in Colorado, called “Community Recovery.”

The investigation began in May, although the purported incidents occurred over the past four years. Bathum was arrested on Thursday, November 10th.

In addition, Bathum, along with Kirsten Wallace, was arrested on multiple felony counts of grand theft and identity theft.  According to a press release, “The Department of Insurance’s investigation revealed Bathum and Wallace conspired to steal patient identities and buy health insurance policies for patients without their knowledge. After completing treatment, Bathum continued to bill insurance companies for treatment services.”

Insurance companies were billed for  more than $176 million and paid out $44 million.  With bail at $2 million, the pair face up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
