Investigation into Stabbing Death Continues

Juan Sarellano

SAN JOSE — A fatal stabbing investigation is underway.  According to the San Jose Police Department, a call to 9-1-1 call centers was received around midnight reporting a stabbing victim located on the 1600 block of Story Road.

According to San Jose Police Officer Sgt. Enrique Garcia, “Upon arrival, officers located the adult male victim inside a restaurant with at least one stab wound.”   The victim, 23-year-old Juan Sarellano, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was stabbed in the parking lot and went inside the restaurant where witnesses called 911,” Garcia said. “The suspect fled on foot and has not been identified.”

San Jose Police were only able to release a description of the suspect as being an adult male wearing dark clothing. According to investigators there is no known motive behind the stabbing.  Witnesses near the scene were unable to give information as to the stabbing and where it had originally occurred. It is believed that the victim and the suspect got into an altercation that eventually led to the stabbing and Sarellano’s death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Bert Milliken or Detective Raul Corral of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.

Persons wishing to remain anonymous may call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line (408) 947-STOP (7867).  Persons providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect may be eligible for a cash reward from the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers.
