Couple Confronted for Shoplifting at Walmart, Woman Locks Herself in Bathroom

MORGAN HILL — Though shoplifting is often looked upon as a soft crime, it nonetheless creates a financial burden of replacing the stolen merchandise.

According to Morgan Hill Police, two suspects were arrested after Walmart employees discovered two reusable bags full of merchandise the pair had intended on stealing.

Alexias Wilson of Modesto and D’Angelo Webster of San Jose, both 19, were seen going through the store, selecting items, cutting off the tags, and placing them in their bags.

When confronted by employees, Wilson locked herself in the women’s bathroom and refused to come out. Employees then contacted the fire department, who arrived on scene and opened the door.

Wilson appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was, in fact, wearing a white dress she had taken from the rack and guarding several bags of items with the tags removed. She was taken into custody without further incident.

Webster was located outside of the restroom area and taken into custody for his part in aiding Wilson.

Wilson and Webster were  booked into jail for commercial burglary, being under the influence, lying to police officers by providing a false name, and probation violation.
