Novato PD Warns Public on String of Residential Burglaries

NOVATO – The Novato Police Department (NPD) has recently issued a community bulletin about a string of recent burglaries in town.

On Thursday, February 11, NPD Officers responded to a report of an attempted residential burglary on Brookline Drive. A resident was home at the time when the suspects attempted to force entry through a side window. The resident heard the commotion, went to investigate, and caught the suspects in their attempt. They then fled and have since not been located.

A few days earlier a similar report was made to the NPD when another resident saw someone inside his/her home. When the resident confronted the suspect the individual also fled, and has not been located.

Yet another incident occurred in the Marin County jurisdiction area of Novato on February 10th. During this incident, a suspect vehicle was seen fleeing the scene of the burglary. The vehicle was a silver 2011 Kia Sorento with the license plate of 6UBC665 and was located two days later and impounded by authorities. The suspects in the residential burglaries have not been identified at this time.

The NPD wants to ensure that the public is aware of the apparent string of burglaries and wants residents to exercise caution and to be vigilant. The department is also seeking assistance from the public for any information relating to the above-described vehicle or the suspects involved. Please contact the NPD Investigations Section if you have any information regarding these incidents.

In a separate Novato incident, NPD arrested 21-year-old Samuel Ramirez-Saquiche of Novato shortly after 2:15 am Saturday morning after a six-mile pursuit through the streets of town. An officer on patrol had seen him driving his Honda erratically and conducted an enforcement stop when Ramirez-Saquiche attempted to evade officers. He eventually exited his vehicle on foot, leaving his vehicle unoccupied as it continued to move forward and strike a parked vehicle.

After a short pursuit on foot, the suspect was taken into custody. Ramirez-Saquiche was booked for felony evading, resisting arrest, DUI, and driving while on a suspended driver’s license because of a previous DUI. His vehicle was impounded.
