El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a man in connection with a robbery at a Walgreens store in Cameron Park.

Events unfolded at about 11:40 a.m. on December 27th when a man went into the Walgreens in the 4000 block of Plaza Goldorado. The suspect approached a clerk at the pharmacy claiming to have a gun. He demanded drugs and then fled.

Deputies responded to the incident and immediately started following up on leads. According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, some leads even came through the department’s Facebook page.

Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate a man who matched the description of the suspect at a home in the 300 block of Quad Lane, where said suspect appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

After a brief struggle, deputies were able to take the suspect — 18-year-old Brandon Purcell — into custody. The stolen pharmaceuticals were also recovered.

Purcell was charged with robbery and booked into the El Dorado County Jail where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
