Gang Members Arrested for Drugs and Guns

BAKERSFIELD — Two known gang members are behind bars after police found drugs and guns in their Bakersfield hotel room on Thursday afternoon.

Erin Peterson (26) and Shannon Wafer (41), both of Bakersfield, were booked into the Kern County Jail on various weapons and drug charges. Peterson was also booked on an additional charge of absconding from state parole.

Both suspects remain in custody.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the pair was arrested at around 3:45 p.m. on December 15 when special enforcement officers conducted a room search at the Tegeler Hotel at 1908 H Street in Bakersfield.

During their search, officers said they located a “Mac-11” 9mm machine pistol with a high capacity magazine as well as drugs inside the room Peterson and Wafer were staying in.

Peterson and Wafer both have a lengthy criminal history in Kern County including prior drug convictions, petty theft, and burglary.
