BAKERSFIELD — A 32-year-old Bakersfield man is in custody after police find a mass cache of guns, drugs and ammunition inside this home last Tuesday.

Garrett Cope was booked in the Kern County Jail on several charges including possession for sale of marijuana, possession of assault weapons and child endangerment.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the gang unit found 47 pounds of marijuana, 14 firearms including assault weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition during the execution of a search warrant at Cope’s home in the 1800 block of Cherry Street in central Bakersfield on November 24.

During the search of the residence deputies said they also found paraphernalia indicative of the sale of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and various other drug paraphernalia.

Cope’s three-year-old son, who was inside the home during the search, was taken and later released to the custody of his mother.
