According to police, “one male and one female entered the store and physically assaulted the victim with a stun gun.”

Using video surveillance footage and an account provided by the victim, the male suspect was described as white, approximately 25-35 years of age, bald and standing 5-feet ten-inches tall. He was described as having a medium build and was wearing baggy blue workout pants with a white stripe.

The female suspect was also described as a white with a medium build, and in her 20’s. She was last seen wearing athletic clothing while carrying a gift bag and multi-colored balloons during the robbery, which helped hide her face.

The last reported Los Gatos jewelry store robbery before this one occurred in 2012, with police eventually locating the two suspects in Oklahoma. 51-year-old Willie Thompson and 48-year-old Melvin Andrew were charged for the November 27, 2012 armed robbery at Blacy’s Fine Jewelers, at 51 University Avenue in Los Gatos, just a few blocks and around the corner from Gehrens. It took nearly three years to identify the suspects, who had covered their faces with ski masks.

According to CBS San Francisco, “During the ongoing investigation in 2013, detectives received a tip from the State of Oklahoma Narcotics Interdiction Task Force that led to the recovery of evidence related to the robbery.” The pair were arrested on September 9 of this year in Oklahoma, to be sent to Santa Clara County to face the additional charges.
