Early on February 8, 2015 at approximately 2:19 a.m., gunshots were reported near the 7500 block of Wainscott Way. When officers arrived, they were unable to find the shooter or any victims, police said.

However, about half an hour later, police received a report that a young man had arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound. The teen, later identified as Murray, 18, was pronounced dead at 2:48 a.m.

Detectives say they believe Murray was specially targeted, and knew his attackers.

A day later, there was more violence in the neighborhood when further gunfire broke out near a memorial for Murray. One person was treated for a wound that was not life threatening.

Anyone with more information relevant to the investigation is asked to call the Sacramento Police Department at (916) 443-4357.
