Sac Sheriff Makes Arrest in Two Sexual Assault Cases

A 19-year-old man is reportedly under arrest for two separate sexual assault incidents that occurred in December 2014 in North Highlands, according to an official press release issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Ibrahima Wane, 19, was reportedly arrested on Friday, January 30 for a violent attack and sexual assault that occurred near Watt Avenue and A Street in North Highlands on December 20. During that incident, a 68-year-old woman was reportedly forced into her home by a stranger — later identified as Wane — after returning home from a walk. The victim assisted detectives in rendering a composite image of her assailant for public release.

According to Sac Sheriff, sexual assault detectives have connected Wane to a similar attacked that took place on December 31 at Watt Avenue and Peacekeeper Way. In this incident, a stranger reportedly pulled a 42-year-old female victim off of her bike and attempted to sexually assault her.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Wane, who was reportedly located and arrested in the San Diego area. Wane was transferred to the Sacramento County Main Jail on Thursday, February 5, where he is being held on eight felony crimes related to both incidents. His current bail is reportedly set at $2 million, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
