Mother Arrested for Abandoning Baby at Truck Stop

A woman has reportedly been arrested after leaving her 6-week-old infant at a truck stop, according to an official press release from Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Christina Reed, 36, of Lake County was reportedly questioned and arrested for felony child endangerment.

According to Sac Sheriff, at 5:20 pm on Sunday, May 18, an employee of a local truck stop located in the 2800 block of El Centro Road called Sac Sheriff to report that a baby had been left in a carrier on the sidewalk. Deputies responded to reportedly find the employees caring for a 6-week-old female infant. Witnesses reportedly saw a male and female subject with the infant earlier, who both went separate ways and had left the truck stop about 45 minutes earlier.

Reportedly about 90 minutes later, the mother of the infant — later identified as Reed — returned to the scene, and was questioned by officers and arrested. The father of the child, Thomas “Tommy” Reed, is reportedly being sought by detectives for questioning.

The infant was reportedly transported to the UCD Medical Center to be medically evaluated, and now is reportedly been placed in protective custody with Child Protective Service. Anyone having information related to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau at 916-874-5115.
