Suspect Arrested for Shooting in Rancho Cordova

The Rancho Cordova Police have reportedly made an arrest in an early morning shooting that had occurred earlier this month, leaving the victim in critical condition, according to an official press release issued by Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Cristobal Chavez, 52, was reportedly arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was reportedly apprehended in the north area of Sacramento, and booked into the Sacramento County Jail. The gun used in the shooting was also reportedly recovered.

According to Sac Sheriff, on Thursday, May 8, at approximately 7 am, Rancho Cordova Police received reports of a male shot at Tru Green Landcare business in the 3213 Fitzgerald Road in Rancho Cordova.

Reportedly per witnesses at the scene, a 44-year-old Hispanic male employee of the business was shot by another Hispanic man — later identified as Chavez — following a verbal altercation. Chavez reportedly fled the scene in a red Honda Civic prior to officer’s arrival, and was reportedly later apprehended and arrested.

According to Sac Sheriff, the victim is still alive, but remains in critical condition.
