A witness to the incident reported that it took place at 10 p.m. Sunday night, and wrote down the perpetrator’s license plate number. Police traced the car to an apartment complex on Alice Street in East Woodland. Kristal Sutton, 28, was arrested at her apartment soon after the incident. Sutton is currently lodged at the Yolo County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

According to Woodland Police Lt. Anthony Cucchi, Sutton is alleged to have run over the victim in the parking lot of the 7-11 store at 1229 East Main Street and then to have fled the scene. According to witnesses, a confrontation of some kind between the two women apparently took place inside the store.

Then, as Sutton was pulling out of the store’s parking lot, she reportedly intentionally struck the victim with her car and completely ran the victim over.

Police declined to identify the victim, who suffered severe brain injuries, a broken pelvis, broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Family members identified the woman as 57-year-old Alisa Horner.  The victim’s daughter described her and generous and nonviolent.

The victim was taken to UC Davis Medical Center. Because of the severity of her injuries it is not yet clear whether she will live.
