Recycling Center Owner Arrested for Illegal Operations

BAKERSFIELD – The owner of a Bakersfield recycling center was arrested after failing to comply with state and local laws regarding the recycling of non-ferrous metals.

Sameh Wahba, owner of Sameh Recycling at 2121 E. California Ave. in east Bakersfield was arrested and charged with multiple Business and Professions Code violations, including Penal Code 496a(a), Penal Code 496a(b), Business and Professions Code 21608.5(a)(1)

Wahba was taken into custody after investigators from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit conducted an enforcement operation on June 26, to ensure local recycling centers were complying with state and local laws regarding the recycling of non-ferrous metals.

Detectives found Sameh Recycling was not in compliance.

Wahba was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield and  was released after posting bail.
