Alleged Burglar Exits Dixon Walmart With Merchandise Valued At More Than $1,000

DIXON -Chad C. Sherman, 29, of San Pablo entered the Dixon Wal-Mart at about 6 a.m. on the morning of June 3, 2013. Sherman left the Wal-Mart a short time later without paying for merchandise including a flat screen TV, clothing and other various items with a value of over $1,000. He was detained by Wal-Mart security personnel and charged, according to Dixon Patrol Sgt. Loren Ellefson, with second degree burglary. It is contended that Sherman entered the store with the intent to steal the items, which would meet the definition of second degree burglary under California Penal Code 459 PC . Sherman may be charged with either a misdemeanor or a felony. Without definitive physical evidence of intent, prosecutors will have a difficult time making the felony charge stick.
