The Elk Grove Police Department has arrested five individuals in connection to a marijuana growing operation that was discovered following a house fire, according to an official press release.

Duong Su, Raymond Su, Mui Ly, Kim Ta, Felix Su

The homeowner, Felix Su, 43, and his wife Kim Ta, 41, were both reportedly arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.

And as a result of the investigation, detectives searched two other Elk Grove residences and arrested Duong Su, 54, Raymond Su, 24, and Mui Ly, 47, on charges of cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. Raymond Su was also charged with possession of a short-barreled-rifle or shotgun.

According to the Elk Grove PD, on May 11, 2013, at 11:37 a.m., the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department and the City of Sacramento Fire Department responded to a fire in a home located in the 6000 block of Laguna Villa Way. Upon entering the home, firefighters discovered a large amount of suspicious material consistent with a marijuana growing operation, and immediately contacted the Elk Grove PD for assistance.

Once the fire was out, detectives reportedly began processing the residence after obtaining a search warrant.

At that time the homeowner, Felix Su, arrived and was detained, questioned and ultimately arrested by detectives.

The investigation also reportedly lead detectives to obtain search warrants for two other homes in Elk Grove — one on the 6800 block of Kilconnell Drive and one on the 7500 block of Shelby Way — where they reportedly found active marijuana growing operations.

According to the Elk Grove PD, between the three locations over 550 marijuana plants and approximately six pounds of packaged marijuana were recovered, as well as $1,400 in US currency and a loaded sawed off 12-gauge shotgun.

The investigation into the marijuana growing operations is still ongoing, and Elk Grove PD urges anyone with information to call 916-478-8114.
