Woman Arrested for Driving Stolen Vehicle

Malissa Marie Chavez, 22

SANTA MARIA – Police arrested a 22-year-old woman over the weekend on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle and are lending the suspect a cell at the County Jail.

Just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, the officers were patrolling the area of Donovan and Elm when they spotted a vehicle, driven by Malissa Marie Chavez, that had been reported stolen since April 20, according to the Police Department.

Officers made a routine traffic stop on the vehicle and Chavez was taken into custody without incident. Police say she also had a felony drug warrant for her arrest.

The Santa Maria woman was booked in lieu of bail at Santa Barbara County Jail on the outstanding drug warrant and suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle, police said.
