SPD Investigate Homicide

The Sacramento Police Department (SPD) is currently investigating the shooting death of a 26-year-old male, according to an official SPD press release. The victim was today identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office as Luis Alfredo Vasquez.

Traction Avenue is adjacent to the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail

On August 11, 2012, at approximately 3:15am, police reportedly responded to the 2500 block of Traction Avenue regarding a subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The SPD’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators reportedly responded to the scene. At this time, detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the homicide and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
