Valley Woman Shoots, Kills Neighbor

A California Valley woman was arrested by San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies for allegedly shooting her neighbor.

According to SLO Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a 911 call around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday regarding a shooting that happened in California Valley. Deputies arrived on scene to find a man dead from a single shotgun wound. The victim has been identified as Joseph King Cochran, 49.

Gina Loret Mayborn

During the course of the investigation deputies found out there had been a dispute between Cochran and the suspect, Gina Loret Mayborn, 55. Investigators say the victim lived in a trailer, on or next to the same property where the suspect lived.

Paramedics from Cal Fire station 42 in California Valley responded to the scene and attempted aid to the victim, but they were not successful and the victim was determined to be dead at the scene. Mayborn was arrested and booked on a charge of homicide.
