According to an official SPD press release, on July 3, 2012 at 9:20am, police oficers were called to the 7500 block of Rock Creek Way regarding a City employee who was allegedly attached by Narayan. The victim and coworker were reportedly sitting in their City vehicle when Narayan approached the vehicle on his bicycle and smashed out the driver’s side window with a hatchet. The employee in the driver’s seat reportedly sustained minor cuts to the face from the broken glass.

Narayan then reportedly fled the scene on his bicycle to his home in the 7500 block of Stallings Drive. Officers arrived on the scene and briefly saw Narayan in his driveway, still holding the hatchet. He immediately ran inside his home and refused to come out, causing officers to involve the Sacramento Police SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams, which attempted to get Narayan to surrender. Several hours later, Narayan reportedly exited the rear of his home and was taken into custody by members of SWAT and K9. Narayan was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

SPD urges anyone with information pertaining to this crime to contact the dispatch center at 916-264-5471.
