Grateful Threads burglars hemmed in by police

Four suspects are in custody after being arrested by Grover Beach Police last Sunday morning for attempting to burglarize a business.

According to police, an officer on patrol around 4:15 a.m. in the business district of Grover Beach discovered an occupied suspicious vehicle parked behind the businesses in the 900 block of Grand Ave. Police say the officer contacted two people inside the vehicle, and at the same time two more people came out of a closed business and fled the area.

According to police, a perimeter of the business was conducted with the assistance of the Arroyo Grande Police Department, and a subsequent search discovered the two other persons nearby. Four people, two males and two females, were detained for further investigation.

The four arrested were Monique Kimberly Ryan, 28, Michael Keith Downs, 29, Matthew Troy Skinner, 38, all of Atascadero and Naomi Rose Downs, 28, of Nipomo. Investigators say an investigation discovered the business, Grateful Threads, was in the process of being burglarized by the four suspects.

Further investigation revealed an attempted burglary to the Taco Bell restaurant located in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue. Police say all four suspects were arrested and transported to the police station for interviews.

The Grover Beach Police notified all San Luis Obispo County Law Enforcement Agencies of the investigation since it was consistent with prior commercial burglaries in the San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande areas. Police say additional investigations are underway as a result of these arrests.
