Foster father accused of molesting teenage girls

FRESNO — A judge ruled Monday that a Fresno man will go to trial to face molestation charges involving two foster girls who were in his care.

William Green, 32, six felony charges lewd acts with two foster girls.

William Green, 32, faces six felony charges of lewd acts involving a female foster child and three misdemeanor charges for molesting another female foster child.

Green, a substitute teacher for the Fresno Unified School District and a basketball coach at San Joaquin Memorial High School, was arrested last month for allegedly molesting his 13-year-old foster daughter in his home near Shields and Fowler avenues.

According to Fresno police Detective Jose Jauregui, the 13-year-old girl gave accounts of 10 to 15 times in which Green made inappropriate sexual contact against her will.

“As (the victim) was walking up the steps to her bedroom, Mr. Green grabbed her, picked her up, and took her to the couch,” Jauregui testified in court on Monday, describing one of the incidents.

Green is also accused of having sexual contact with a 16-year-old foster girl who was in his care for about a month. Jauregui said that Green rubbed and kissed the teenager’s inner thigh at one point.

The crucial piece of evidence leading to Green’s arrest was a tape recording police made of the 13-year-old victim talking to Green on the phone. When the girl talked about the sexual contact that had occurred, Green told her not to tell anybody because his career and life would be over, Jauregui said.

Defense attorney Franz Criego said in court that there’s no physical evidence to support the accusations, calling this a case of “he said, she said.”

Fresno Superior Court Judge Gary Hoff ruled that the case would move forward to trial. All six of the foster children that had been under the care of Green and his wife were removed from their home by Child Protective Services.
