Costa Mesa attack leads to four arrests, assault charges

COSTA MESA — Four men that targeted two innocent victims have been taken into custody and face charges that include robbery, assault, conspiracy to commit a crime and participating in a street gang.

Miguel Mondragon, 19, Edgar Molina, 23, Yahaira Blatazar, 19, all of Santa Ana, and Eric Rojas, 19, of Tustin, have all pleaded not guilty to the charges, reports the Orange County Register.

According to police, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 14, the two victims – a man and a woman — were at the Del Taco on the 1700 block of Harbor when the four suspects drove up and engaged them in the parking lot.

The four men then got out of the vehicle and attacked, allegedly smashing a beer bottle over the male victim’s head before robbing the female victim of her purse and cell phone.

The four will appear for hearings in Harbor Justice Court on Thursday.
