HURON — An altercation between juvenile members of the Huron Bulldog and Norteno criminal street gangs turned violent Monday afternoon, resulting in one juvenile victim being slashed with a knife.
At about 6:12 p.m., Huron police officers were dispatched to a gang fight in progress in the 36000 block of O Street. Several suspects were known to concerned citizens, who notified police and identified the participants by name.
Upon arrival, officers encountered 13 subjects, both adults and juveniles, who were observed running from the scene. One juvenile sustained defensive knife wounds to his hands. He was later treated and released.
Officers arrested two juveniles who were identified by both victims and witnesses to the attack. One suspect’s cellular phone was seized as evidence as it contained video footage of the incident. Both juvenile suspects were later booked into Fresno County Juvenile Hall on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery, combined with a felony gang enhancement.
Through the course of this investigation, five other suspects have been identified and warrants of arrest are being issued, according to a release from the Lt. Robert Herndon, the Huron Police Department’s interim chief. Investigators from the Huron Police Department’s Gang Unit are working in conjunction with the Coalinga Police Department and Fresno County Sheriff’s M.A.G.E.C. unit to apprehend the outstanding suspects.
Anyone wishing to report criminal activity or the location of wanted individuals is encouraged to contact the Huron Police Department at (559) 945-2348.
