Crime Voice Staff Report
SALINAS — A vehicle stolen in Salinas was recovered and its driver arrested after officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call in Huron last week.
On Oct. 8 at about 4:15 p.m., Huron police officers were dispatched to the 16000 block of 11th Street regarding an in-progress domestic violence call. Officers arrived to find the female victim badly beaten. The victim identified her attacker as Augustin Diaz, who had already fled the scene in a late-model black Dodge truck.
Within minutes, officers stopped a black Dodge truck that matched the description of the one driven by the suspect near the intersection of M and 9th streets. A records check revealed the truck had been stolen from the city of Salinas a few days prior. Officers arrested Diaz, 22 of Huron, who was positively identified by the victim.
Diaz was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property and domestic violence.
