Recidivist Suspected of Murder Arrested at Berkeley AmTrak Station

BERKELEY — A 26-year-old man has been arrested 47 times since his first criminal conviction for battery in 2012. Jessie J. McAllister was arrested again this week at the Berkeley AmTrak Station on suspicion of murder.

McAllister is accused of fatally shooting a man to death on September 26, outside a residence on the 1100 block of Glen Avenue. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim, a man in his 30s.

McAllister, most recently from El Cerrito, was arrested on a warrant on September 28 at 5:25 p.m. He remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail, ineligible for release on bond. In August, he was released from the same jail for an unrelated
criminal conviction.

McAllister is a longtime recidivist. Since the age of 18, McAllister has received 31 jail sentences, including once in state prison. He has been placed under supervised probation 15 times.

McAllister has numerous prior arrests and convictions for assault, battery, burglary, and robbery.

So far this year, McAllister has been arrested four times. This includes an arrest for other shootings that occurred in Berkeley.

In 2019, he was arrested for burglary and battery domestic violence.

In 2018, he was arrested for burglary and several probation violations.

In 2017, he was arrested for burglary, robbery, and probation violations.

In 2016, he was arrested for burglary, robbery, and possession of a controlled substance.

His current murder case has been forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Berkeley PD homicide unit at 510-981-5741.
