The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office tells the story of the arrest of a man who burglarized a local thrift store –

“On 06-25-2020 at approximately 8:43 a.m., Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported burglary at the State of the Ark Thrift Store in Fort Bragg, California.

After arriving, Deputies initiated an investigation wherein they learned approximately $3,500.00 worth of store merchandise was stolen. burglary

After review of store surveillance footage, Deputies were able to identify Shawn Spiller as having committed the burglary.

While checking the area for Spiller, Deputies located some or all of the stolen property concealed in the brush in the immediate area.

At approximately 12:15 a.m., Deputies responded to Hare Creek Beach in Fort Bragg after receiving information Spiller was in that area.  Deputies located and contacted Spiller and arrested him without incident for burglary (459/460 PC).

Spiller was ultimately transported and booked into the Mendocino County Jail.  Spiller was also confirmed to have two active summary probation cases and he was additionally booked on two misdemeanor counts of violation of probation.

In accordance with the COVID-19 emergency order issued by the State of California Judicial Council, bail was set at zero dollars and Spiller was released after the jail booking process.”
