Banker Gives Herself a $114,000 Raise

35-year old Jennifer Silva of Porterville turned herself in to authorities on February 4th. She was wanted for embezzling $114,000 from her employer, Bank of the Sierra.

Management of the bank’s Porterville Corporate Office became aware of the fraudulent activity on January 16th and alerted detectives.

Combing through hundreds of financial documents, the illegal transactions were discovered to be occurring as far back as October of 2017.

Jennifer Silva was identified as the only person involved in the embezzlement. She turned herself in on Monday, after the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for her arrest.

She was charged and booked but has since bonded out. $30,000 of the stolen money has been recovered.
