MODESTO – The arrest of a man and woman for a Modesto murder has solved some of the intrigue after the discovery of a body buried in the backyard of a home.

On November 24th a resident of the home on Santa Rita Avenue attempted to bury a dead pet in the backyard and came upon the body of Jacob Sutton-Bubeck in an area where a shed had previously sat.

Investigators generated several good leads after “extensive media coverage.  Helpful CrimeStoppers tips came in.

53-year-old Robert Wiswell and 44-year-old Rebecca Garcia were arrested on November 30th without incident.  They were booked for murder and conspiracy.

The SCSD press release says, “Detective Brown had previously requested that anyone that who had lived at the home or stayed at the home in the past year would contact him. Several people reached out to detective Brown and confirmed that during the time period that Sutton-Bubeck went missing that Wiswell and Garcia were living in a shed in the backyard of the house on Santa Rita.”

Investigators discovered Sutton-Bubeck’s body where the shed once sat.
