$1 Million Bail for Residential Burglaries

SANTA CLARITA VALLEY — On Friday, SVC deputies were on patrol around the 35100 block of Castaic Road when they saw a man in a parked vehicle.  They soon recognized him 51-year-old Antonio Alonso Diaz, a serial burglary suspect.

Prior to the 27th, detectives positively identified Diaz as the suspect in a home burglary through video surveillance provided by the owner. He had been entering  various homes with unlocked or unsecured.

On Tuesday, Diaz was officially charged with one count of residential burglary.  His bail was set at $1 million.

Authorities believe Diaz is tied to numerous other home burglaries in Santa Clarita Valley, reminding citizens to “lock everything up- make sure your home is secured. Installing a video security system is a good option for some homeowners. Make it a habit that when you leave your home in the morning, or when you go to bed at night, check to make sure all windows are secured and doors are locked.”

They also added, “Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call LA Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or by using the website LACrimeStoppers.org.”
