Ventura – Demonstrating yet again the perils faced by children and teens on the internet, Ventura County Assistant District Attorney Terrance Dobrosky announced the October 6th arrest of 60-year-old Goleta resident William Fred White on suspicion of felony child luring and sending harmful matter to a child.

According to Dobrosky, White allegedly cruised internet chat rooms establishing contact with minor females with the intent to lure them into sexual activity.

White is accused of engaging in “an online chat with a female he believed to be a 15-year-old girl” for that specific purpose. “He arranged to meet that child at a public place and pick her up in his vehicle for the purposes of committing sexual acts with a child,” Dobrosky reported.

As it happens, law enforcement had prior suspicions that White “has had improper contact with other children” prior to this incident. Without going into details of the investigation, Dobrosky indicated that White may have been the subject of scrutiny of such efficiency that Ventura County Sheriff’s Department detectives had established surveillance at the location where White expected to rendezvous with his young victim.

One can only image White’s surprise when he arrived at that location and rather than finding a young girl, discovered the cops waiting for him.

White was taken into custody and transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges, with no indication of a bail amount at this time.
