GPS Hidden in Cough Syrup Used to Arrest Two Burglars

Willie Clark and Brian Salinas

TUSTIN – In an interesting twist of police work, Tustin police hid a GPS device in cough syrup and then used it to help arrest two burglars.

Multiple burglaries involving prescription cough syrup caught the attention of police — enough to analyze and decide which pharmacies might be targeted.  They then set up devices to help catch the thieves.

On November 10th, Creative Compounding Pharmacy on Newport Avenue was burglarized during the night.  A bottle that happened to have the GPS device inside of it was stolen, and this led police to 21-year-old Willie Clark and 20-year-old Brian Salinas.

Denise Taylor, the owner of Creative Compounding, cooperated with authorities in the operation and remarked that it made for a “great ending.”
