Two Arrested in Fresno on Illegal Gambling Charges

Thanhack Linthong and Pa Vang

FRESNO – Authorities arrested two people they say were running an illegal gambling operation out of an apartment at the Summerset Village Apartments in central Fresno.

As part of follow-up work to an ongoing investigation, members of the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) served a search warrant at the apartment unit, located in the 2100 block of N. Angus Street in Fresno.

When they were searching the apartment, officers found gambling machines inside one of the apartments. The machines were being used to operate an illegal casino, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said there were four video slot machines and multiple computers set up to run other games such as poker. Officers also found undisclosed amounts of cash inside the machines, indicating that they had been recently played, the sheriff’s office said.

Fresno police arrested 46-year-old Thanhack Linthong, a validated Fresno gang member, and 45-year-old Pa Vang, who was out on bail.

Linthong faces a felony charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition. Both Linthong and Vang face misdemeanor charges for illegally operating gambling machines. Vang also faces a felony charge for committing a crime while being out on bail.
