Delano Man Arrested for Theft of Farm and Construction Equipment

DELANO – A Delano man wanted for stealing farm equipment last December was finally apprehended on Monday.

Raul Lopez Oropeza, 47, was booked into the Kern County jail for receiving stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that Oropeza’s arrest came at the end of a lengthy investigation that began on December 17, 2014, into the theft of stolen farm and construction equipment from several victims in the Central Valley.

During their initial investigation deputies from the Rural Crime Investigation Unit were able to immediately recover approximately $50,000 of the stolen property from in front of a home in the 1100 block of West Cecil Avenue in Delano. More stolen items were found inside of the residence and the surrounding property.

An arrest warrant was issued for Oropeza, who was eventually apprehended on March 23.
