Drinking, Driving, Neckbraces and Children Don’t Mix

MONTEBELLO, CA—One wonders where the neck brace came from in the first place.

Anthony Jesus Godinez, 21, was pulled over by Montebello police on Wednesday, December 4 at about 1:30 p.m. He was ultimately arrested and charged for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The 5’6″ man may have attracted some attention with the massive brace that adorned his neck.

There is more to the mystery besides the neck brace and driving drunk on a Monday shortly after noon. Godinez proclaimed himself a “playground worker for YDP Youth,” according to the arresting officer, Lopez. The Youth Development Program (YDP) Youth is an after-school program that, according to its Web site, www.ydplausd.com, “is one of the best after school programs in the nation.” There is also a segment on the same Web site labeled “Careers.”

Bail was set at $5,000.

Godinez was arrested at the corner of Whittier Boulevard and Garfield Avenue, two blocks from Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary High School. God help us all if he was on his way to work that day.
