Sacramento Sheriff Arrests Sexual Assault Suspect

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Sex Assault detectives have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on a school campus this past November, according to an official press release.

After a 4 month investigation, Demarea Brown was arrested for sexual assault.

Demarea Brown, 21, was reportedly taken into custody today, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his residence in Sacramento County. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on several felony charges related to the assault, and is currently being held on $1,210,000 bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, on November 25, 2012, at approximately 8:30 pm, a 19 year old woman was walking around a school in the 7900 block of Firestone Drive in Antelope when she was approached by a male suspect who started a conversation with her. After a few minutes, the two reportedly went their separate ways, but moments later, while the victim was still on campus the suspect approached her again, this time reportedly grabbing and sexually assaulting her before fleeing on foot.

Olive Grove Elementary School was the scene of the nighttime assault.

Investigation by the Sheriff’s Department reportedly led to the identification of Brown as the suspect in the assault. He was later positively identified by the victim as the man who assaulted her.

Detectives executed a search warrant for Brown’s residence, where they found evidence linking him to the incident.
