Police Seek MacBook Burglars

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is investigating a rash of residential burglaries in the neighborhoods surrounding the Cal Poly Campus.

Police say since the early evening of November 30, SLOPD officers have taken five burglary reports in which a total of 15 MacBook Pro laptop computers have been taken.

What makes these burglaries stand out from other burglaries that occur from time to time throughout the city is that the MacBook laptops seem to be the intended target item of the burglars.

Police say other valuable items are not taken or even disturbed.

Preliminary information gathered by officers at this point suggest these burglaries may be a part of a larger, organized theft ring rather than just random crimes of opportunity.

The burglaries have been reported at 1200 and 1300 blocks of Foothill Boulevard, 0-100 block of Hathway Avenue and the 300 block of Buena Vista Drive.
