Search Warrant Yields Drugs, Guns and Cash

Lake County – A search warrant last Thursday resulted in a large confiscation of drugs, guns and cash for the Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force.  At 8:30 AM officers executed the warrant at a home on the 1900 block of Nice Lucerne Cutoff.

Upon arrival a male subject ran from the home.  However, within the home police located Mark Christopher Ramsey, 49, of Nice and Ricky Huie, 50, of Whitney.

The subsequent search of the property yielded 215 mature marijuana plants, 660 pounds of drying marijuana and 181 pounds of processed marijuana.  In addition, detectives also seized six rifles, four handguns, a money counter and over $70,000 in cash, most of which was vacuum sealed.

While law enforcement was till on site, Jaime Rodriguez, 39, of Mano Pelham, New York, drove to the residence.  He was detained and found to be in possession of both methamphetamine and cocaine.  He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

In addition, Ramsey and Huie were arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, armed in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  Ramsey was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.  All three were taken to Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
Anyone with information that can help the Narcotics Task Force continue its efforts to remove narcotics from Lake County is encouraged to call 263-3663.
