Man Arrested Outside Trump National Golf Club Ahead of Presidential Event
LOS ANGELES, CA — Authorities recently announced the arrest of a man at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday, hours before President Donald Trump was scheduled to host a Tuesday evening fundraiser at the property.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lomita Substation responded to the golf course around 3:30 p.m. Sunday August 2nd after plainclothes federal agents observed a man taking photographs and monitoring security-planning activities.
Law enforcement identified the individual as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey. Upon detaining Taele, deputies found a loaded magazine in his pocket, as well as a loaded pistol and extra ammunition inside his vehicle. Authorities noted Taele was also under investigation for robbery by the El Segundo Police Department.
Taele was booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
A Monday search of Taele’s Downey residence by sheriff’s detectives and FBI agents yielded an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, body armor, high-capacity magazines, bulk ammunition, two radio signal devices, and notebooks containing statements.
The case was submitted to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday morning. Los Angeles County Jail records indicate that Taele had a court date at 8:30am on Tuesday August 4th in the Torrance Municipal Court, however details of that court date are not yet available.
The FBI, Secret Service, and Sheriff’s Department are continuing their joint investigation. Officials stated there is no credible threat to the community, and the fundraiser will proceed as scheduled during the president’s two-day trip to California and Nevada.
